Privacy policy
Spiral ("we," "us," or "the App") is built around a core principle: your data stays on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and the very limited ways any information leaves your device.
1. Information We Access
To function, Spiral requires the following iOS permissions:
Screen Time (Family Controls): Used to monitor your app usage against the limits you set and to block apps when those limits are reached. This data is provided by Apple's on-device frameworks and is never transmitted to us.
Notifications: Used to send you warnings as you approach your usage limits and confirmations when limits are applied.
Spiral does not require, collect, or store an account, email address, name, phone number, or any other personally identifying information.
2. How Your Data Is Used
Your screen time information is:
Processed entirely on your device by Apple's Family Controls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings frameworks
Used to enforce the schedule and limits you configure
Stored locally on your device
Never transmitted to our servers
Never shared with third parties
We have no ability to view, access, or recover your screen time data, the apps you have selected to limit, or your schedule configuration. By Apple's design, this information remains private to your device.
3. Data Collection
3.1 Data Not Linked to Your Identity
The following data may be collected but is not linked to your identity:
Anonymous usage data (whether the App is opened, broad feature interaction)
Crash and performance data (collected via Apple's built-in App Store Connect tools)
This data is collected solely for:
Improving App stability and performance
Identifying and fixing bugs
Understanding which features are used so we can improve them
Providing customer support
3.2 Payment and Subscription Data
Spiral subscriptions are processed exclusively through Apple's App Store:
Payment and subscription management is handled entirely by Apple
We do not receive, see, or store your payment details
Subscription status (active, expired, in trial) may be relayed to us in anonymized form to verify your access to features
See Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles your payment information
3.3 Third-Party Services
Spiral uses the following third-party service:
RevenueCat: Used to manage subscription state (active / expired / in trial). RevenueCat receives an anonymized user identifier and your subscription status from Apple. It does not receive your screen time data, your selected apps, your schedule, or any personal information. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
We do not use advertising trackers, analytics SDKs that profile individuals, or any third-party services that receive your screen time or personal usage data.
4. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Delete all local data by uninstalling the App
Control App permissions through your device's Settings
Manage your subscription through your Apple ID settings
Contact us with any questions about your data
Because we do not store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data we hold that we could provide or delete on request. If this changes in future versions of the App, this policy will be updated accordingly.
5. Data Retention
Local App data remains on your device until you uninstall the App
Subscription verification data via RevenueCat is retained as long as you have an active or recently expired subscription, in accordance with their retention policies
6. Children's Privacy
Spiral is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App is intended for general audiences interested in managing their own screen time. Users under 13 must have parent or guardian consent before using the App.
7. International Users
Spiral is available globally through the App Store. Your subscription and crash data may be processed in regions outside your country, including the United States, in accordance with Apple's and RevenueCat's standard data handling practices.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
