1. Introduction
Welcome to Spiral ("the App"). By downloading, installing, or using Spiral, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. The App
2.1 What Spiral Does
Spiral helps you manage your screen time by allowing you to:
Set zones throughout your day with different screen time allowances for selected apps
Receive warnings as you approach your limits within each zone
Have selected apps automatically blocked when limits are reached, until the current zone ends
Configure schedules that vary by time of day
Spiral uses Apple's Family Controls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings frameworks to monitor and limit app usage. These are on-device APIs provided by Apple.
2.2 Subscription and Payments
Spiral is available through the following subscription options:
Weekly subscription
Monthly subscription
Annual subscription
Subscription terms:
All subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store (in-app purchase)
Subscriptions include a free trial period as described at the point of purchase
After any free trial, your subscription will automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
All prices are shown in your local currency within the App
Prices may vary by region and are subject to change with notice
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at the confirmation of purchase
You can cancel anytime through your Apple ID subscription settings; you will retain access to paid features until the end of the current billing period
2.3 Free Trial
Some subscription plans may offer a free trial period. The free trial converts to a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends. You can cancel at any time through your Apple ID subscription settings without being charged.
2.4 Cancellation and Refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com
We do not have the ability to issue refunds directly for App Store purchases
2.5 App Functionality
Spiral uses iOS Family Controls APIs to restrict access to applications you have selected
Blocked apps remain inaccessible according to your configured schedule and limits
You can configure, modify, or disable your schedule at any time within the App
The App's blocking effectiveness depends on Apple's underlying frameworks. Apple may update these frameworks in ways that affect the App's behavior
3. Your Use of the App
3.1 Age Requirements
The App is available for users of all ages
Users under 13 must have parent or guardian consent
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to manage screen time on the device on which Spiral is installed
3.2 Acceptable Use
When using Spiral, you agree:
Not to circumvent or attempt to circumvent the App's blocking mechanisms
Not to use the App for any unlawful purpose
Not to reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
Not to use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation
To take responsibility for all activity on your device
3.3 Your Responsibility
Spiral is a tool to support your screen time goals. You are solely responsible for the schedule you set, the apps you choose to limit, and the consequences of any blocking that results. Spiral is not a substitute for professional mental health or behavioral support.
4. Intellectual Property
The App, including all design, code, content, branding, and trademarks, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our prior written consent.
5. Changes to the App and Terms
We reserve the right to:
Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time
Change subscription prices and features, with notice as required by applicable law
Update these Terms at any time
If we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you through the App or by updating the Effective Date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
6. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
The App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
App blocking will work in all circumstances or against all attempts to bypass it
Screen time tracking will be perfectly accurate
The App will be compatible with future versions of iOS or future Apple framework changes
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to:
Inability to access blocked apps when you need them
Any consequences of app blocking or unblocking
Inaccuracies in screen time tracking
Interruptions in service availability
Loss of data, profits, or productivity
Our total liability to you for any claim related to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately.
You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it and canceling any active subscription.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
